Do not call list

A do not call list is a record of phone numbers that must not be called. Two distinct things carry the name: national registries such as the US National Do Not Call Registry, which consumers add themselves to, and a business’s own internal list of people who have asked that particular business to stop calling them.

The internal list is the one software can enforce. A request to stop is directed at the business receiving it, and honouring it is a standing obligation that does not expire when a campaign does.

The failure mode is a list that lives in one place while calls are placed from another. A number removed from a campaign but not from the underlying list comes back the next time somebody builds one.

CallPal checks every number against the organisation’s do-not-call list before dialling, in every dialer, so a number added once stays refused across all campaigns. Scrubbing against a national registry is a separate step and remains the business’s own responsibility.
