Live call monitoring: coach the call while it’s still happening

Every call your team has in progress, on one board. Step into any of them unheard, heard by the rep alone, or heard by everyone, without the rep switching a thing.

  • Listen, whisper, barge
  • Every session logged
  • On the Scale plan

The calls happening right now

A new rep’s third call of the week is the one worth hearing, and by the time it reaches a recording the moment to help has passed. The board shows what’s on the line at this second: who is calling whom, how long they’ve been talking, and which campaign it came from.

A call joins the board when it starts ringing and leaves it when it ends. What you see is scoped exactly like the call log: a manager sees the team they manage, an admin sees everyone. No supervisor view reaches further than the history does.

From there, one click puts you on the call. The rep changes nothing, presses nothing and installs nothing; whether they can tell you’re there at all depends on which of the three modes you chose.

Listen Whisper Barge

Three live calls, each with its own Listen, Whisper and Barge, timers ticking between refreshes.

Three ways in, and who hears you in each

It isn’t a volume setting. It’s which line your audio is attached to.

Listen

Nobody hears you

You hear both sides of the conversation and neither party hears anything. The supervisor’s own line doesn’t even open a microphone; it sends a silent track instead, so there’s no hot mic to forget about.

Whisper

Only the rep hears you

Coaching that reaches your rep alone while the call carries on. The audio is injected into the rep’s own line, and that’s what keeps it private: the customer’s side is untouched.

Barge

Everyone hears you

You join the call itself and all three of you share one conversation. It’s for the moment when a deal, or a complaint, needs the manager on the line. Your leaving doesn’t end the call for the other two.

You can move between all three during one session without stopping. The new mode opens before the old one closes, so a supervisor never drops into silence mid-sentence.

Supervision that supervises itself

Listening to a live conversation is the most invasive thing this product does. Every constraint below exists for that reason.

Three permissions, not one switch

Seeing the board and listening is one right; whispering is a second; barging is a third. A supervisor can be given the quiet ones without the loud one, and the check runs on the server. Hiding a button is not the enforcement.

Logged before it happens

The audit entry for a listen, whisper or barge is written before the audio is opened, not after it succeeds. Accessing a live conversation is the most sensitive thing anyone does here, and an attempt is worth recording even when it fails.

Each session is its own record

Every supervision writes a row: who supervised which call, in which mode, from when to when. “Who listened to that call, and for how long” is a query, not an investigation.

You see the calls you are allowed to see

The board is scoped the same way the call log is: a manager sees their own team’s live calls, an admin sees the organisation. No view shows more than the history would.

Monitoring, in plain terms

Does the rep know they are being monitored?

Not from CallPal. A listen is silent to both parties by design, which is what makes it useful for quality review. Telling your team that supervision happens is your call to make, and in several jurisdictions it’s required. What the product guarantees is the record: every session is logged with who did it and when.

Can I switch from listening to whispering mid-call?

Yes, without stopping first. All three buttons stay available during a session and the new mode starts before the old one is released, so there’s no gap of silence in between. If the new mode is refused, whether for want of permission or because the rep leg isn’t up yet, the session you already had keeps running.

What happens to the call if I leave a barge?

Nothing. A barge adds your line to the existing conversation, and your leaving is treated as exactly that: the rep and the contact carry on. The call ends when they end it.

How current is the board?

It refreshes every few seconds and the on-screen timers tick continuously between refreshes. A call appears once it’s ringing or answered, and disappears when it ends.

Which plan includes live monitoring?

Scale, at $59 per user per month. It sits at the top tier for the same reason competitors put SSO there: it’s a supervisor tool a three-person team doesn’t want and a growing one can’t operate without. It’s unlocked during the 14-day trial on any plan, so you can try it on real calls first.
