Connect CallPal to Copper

Sync your Copper people, companies and leads into CallPal, call them from the browser, and have every call written back to Copper as a native activity. Setup takes about two minutes.

Deciding whether to use it at all? What the Copper integration does.

Before you start

  • A CallPal account. The 14-day trial is enough — no card required, and the integration is available on every plan.
  • A Copper user allowed to approve third-party applications.
  • In CallPal, permission to manage integrations. Owners and admins have it by default.
  1. Open Integrations in CallPal

In CallPal, go to Settings → Integrations, find Copper, and select it.

The CallPal Integrations page, with the Copper card among the available connectors.
  2. Approve access in Copper

Copper connects over OAuth. Select Continue and CallPal sends you to Copper, where you sign in and approve the access being asked for.

This is worth noting if you have connected other tools to Copper before: CallPal does not ask for an API key and your account email, which is how Copper’s older integrations authenticate. Approve once and you are done.

The Connect Copper dialog in CallPal, explaining that you will be sent to Copper to approve access.
  3. Choose what to import

People is selected for you and is what most teams want. Companies is there if you call organisations, and Leads if you work an unqualified list before it becomes a person.

Custom fields you have added in Copper come across too — CallPal reads the field list from your own account.

The Copper connection page in CallPal, with People and Companies selected and the field mapping below.
  4. Check the field mapping

CallPal maps the standard fields for you — name, phone numbers, email, job title, company and owner. Review it and adjust anything your team uses differently.

Copper stores several numbers per person under one field. The phone mapping is where you decide which of them your reps should reach.

  5. Run the first sync

Start the sync. Records appear as they arrive, so a large Copper account fills in progressively rather than showing nothing until it finishes.

After that CallPal re-syncs every 30 minutes, and you can trigger one by hand from the connection page.

  6. Make a call

Open any synced record and select the phone number, or add records to a power-dialer campaign to work a list.

When the call ends, CallPal writes it to Copper as a native activity — not a note — so it appears on the record’s activity feed and counts in Copper’s own reporting.

What syncs

Copper → CallPal
People, and optionally Companies and Leads. Standard and custom fields alike, read from your own account.
Calls → Copper
Every completed call is written as a native activity on the matching record: direction, duration, outcome, start time and a link back to the call in CallPal.

What it does not do

Worth reading before you roll this out to a team — these are design decisions, not gaps we are about to close.

  • CallPal reads your records and does not edit them. The only thing written back is the call activity — never a field, a pipeline stage or an opportunity.
  • No email or task automation. Copper keeps doing all of that; CallPal is the calling half only.
  • CallPal is outbound only. No inbound routing, no IVR, no predictive dialing.

Questions

Do I need my Copper API key and account email?

No. That is how Copper’s older integrations authenticate. CallPal connects over OAuth, so you approve it from your own account and nothing is copied.

Where do the calls appear in Copper?

As native activities on the matching person, company or lead — so they show in the activity feed and count in Copper’s reporting.

Will my custom fields come across?

Yes. CallPal reads the field list from your account rather than a fixed list, so custom fields appear in the mapping alongside the standard ones.

How often does it sync?

Every 30 minutes by default, and you can trigger a sync manually from the connection page at any time.

Which phone number does it call from?

Your own. CallPal is bring-your-own-carrier: you connect your own SIP trunk, calls are billed by your carrier at your rate, and outbound calls present your company number rather than a rep’s personal line.

How do I disconnect it?

Delete the connection in CallPal, or revoke CallPal from your Copper account settings. Either stops the sync immediately; records already in CallPal stay there.
