Click-to-call
Click-to-call is the ability to place a phone call by selecting a number inside another application — typically a CRM record — rather than reading the number and typing it into a phone. The call is placed by the software, and the resulting call is usually logged back against the record it was dialled from.
The time saved per call is small; the compounding effects are not. A rep who never reads a number never misdials one, and a call placed from a record can be attributed to that record automatically rather than from memory later.
A plain tel: link is not the same thing. It hands the number to whatever application the operating system has registered — often the rep’s personal softphone — and tells the CRM nothing, which is why teams relying on tel: links usually find their call logs badly incomplete.
