The per-minute rate is most of the bill
For an outbound team, a SIP trunk bill has three lines that matter: answered minutes, number rental and — on some carriers — channels. Five reps making eighty dials a day with one in five answered and three-minute calls run up roughly 5,000 talk minutes a month. At half a cent a minute that is about $25; at a cent it is about $50. Five local numbers add a few dollars either way.
So the comparison that matters is outbound rate times your minutes. The fixed fees only decide it when volume is small or when you rent many numbers for local presence.
Inbound is different. Telnyx charges per inbound channel each month, which matters if the same trunk takes call-backs at volume and does not matter at all for a trunk that only dials out. That is why the channel field defaults to zero.
List rates are a starting point
Carriers publish their headline rate and negotiate below it at volume. If you have a quote, type it into the table — the ranking updates. For what else separates these carriers besides price, read our comparison of SIP trunk providers.
Bundled minutes cost more for a reason
Calling platforms that include minutes buy them from carriers like these and resell them with a margin. That is a fair trade when you want one bill. For a team that dials thousands of minutes a month, the margin becomes the largest line on the invoice.
Bringing your own trunk removes it. To see the difference against a bundled rate, the call minutes cost calculator prices the same volume both ways, and the BYOC guide explains what connecting a trunk involves.
SIP trunk pricing, answered
Which SIP trunk is cheapest in the US?
At published list rates for outbound-heavy dialing, the per-minute rate dominates and the carriers with the lowest outbound rate come out ahead. That changes with your mix — inbound channels, how many numbers you rent and E911 all move the total — which is why the table recalculates from your own numbers rather than stating a winner.
Where do these rates come from?
Each carrier’s own public US pricing page, checked on 2026-11-03. Every carrier name in the table links to the page the figure came from. Rates marked "starting at" on the carrier’s page are the starting rate, and your invoice may differ.
Why is ring time not counted?
Carriers bill answered minutes. An unanswered call that rings for twenty-five seconds costs nothing on a typical per-minute SIP trunk, so including it would inflate every column equally and change nothing about which is cheaper.
What is not included?
Taxes and regulatory recovery fees, CNAM lookups, porting, toll-free numbers, international destinations, and the effect of billing increments. Per-second and 6-second billing make short dialer calls cheaper than per-minute billing does, so ask each carrier which applies.
Can I use any of these carriers with CallPal?
Yes. CallPal is bring-your-own-carrier: you connect a trunk from whichever carrier you choose and pay them directly for minutes. CallPal charges per seat and never marks up a minute.
Bring whichever carrier wins
CallPal connects to your own SIP trunk, so the cheapest carrier for your traffic is the one your calls run on. You pay the carrier for minutes and CallPal per seat — no markup in between.
