CallPal

Apollo.io vs Salesloft

A data-led platform against an engagement-led one. Apollo starts from its contact database and adds sequencing; Salesloft starts from the cadence and expects you to bring the contacts.

The short answer

Apollo if finding people to call is the constraint — the database is the reason to buy it and nothing in Salesloft replaces it. Salesloft if you already have the data and the constraint is running a disciplined multi-channel programme against it.

We make CallPal, a competitor to both, and this page says so rather than pretending to be a neutral review site. Both columns are our own read of publicly available information and can change; no pricing is quoted for either, because plans get renamed and a stale number is worse than none. Check both vendors’ sites for the current answer.

Choose Apollo.io if…

  • Finding people to call is the constraint, not working the list once you have it.
  • Email sequences and calls belong in one cadence rather than two tools.
  • You are on Salesforce or HubSpot and want one platform across the whole motion.

Choose Salesloft if…

  • Outbound is a multi-step, multi-channel cadence and somebody owns the programme.
  • You want conversation intelligence — transcription, scoring, coaching — in the same tool.
  • You are on Salesforce and want engagement data written deep into it.

If neither quite fits

Neither is chosen for its dialer, and it shows. If your list already exists and the calling is the job, the dialer inside a platform is the part you would be relying on most and the part each vendor invested in least.

Apollo.io vs Salesloft FAQ

Can Apollo replace Salesloft?

For sequencing at a smaller scale, often yes, and the database comes with it. For a mature outbound programme with deep Salesforce integration and conversation intelligence, Salesloft is the more specialised tool.

Is Apollo’s data good enough on its own?

It varies by market and seniority, as every provider’s does. Teams calling niche or non-US segments typically find coverage thinner than the headline numbers suggest — test it on a real segment before committing.

Do I still need a dialer with either?

Both include one. Whether it is enough depends on how much of your day is calling: for a few calls between emails, yes. For reps working lists all day, the dialer in a platform is rarely the equal of one built for the job.

More head to heads

Outbound-only, on your own carrier

CallPal is a power dialer and click-to-call layer for teams on smaller CRMs. No inbound, no predictive dialing, and no markup on minutes — because we never sell them.
