Cloud phone system
Dialpad vs RingCentral
Two full communications suites, both well past the point of being a phone system. RingCentral is the broader and more enterprise-entrenched; Dialpad is the more AI-forward.
The short answer
RingCentral for breadth, procurement requirements and one vendor across a large organisation. Dialpad if transcription, live coaching and post-call summaries are things you will genuinely use, and you would rather have that than the extra surface area.
Side by side
Seven capabilities that separate outbound calling tools, answered for each.

We make CallPal, a competitor to both, and this page says so rather than pretending to be a neutral review site. Both columns are our own read of publicly available information and can change; no pricing is quoted for either, because plans get renamed and a stale number is worse than none. Check both vendors’ sites for the current answer.
Choose Dialpad if…
- You want every call transcribed, summarised and searchable without adding a second tool.
- Coaching and call review are the constraint, not the number of dials.
- You need a full phone system and a contact centre from one vendor.
Choose RingCentral if…
- The whole company needs phones, not just the sales team.
- Procurement wants SOC 2, HIPAA and enterprise contracting from a single vendor.
- You need meetings, messaging and telephony to sit in one account.
If neither quite fits
Both are company purchases. Neither is a bad product and neither is shaped for a sales floor that only dials out — that team is paying for inbound infrastructure and, on both, for the minutes.
Dialpad vs RingCentral FAQ
Is Dialpad cheaper than RingCentral?
It depends entirely on the tier and what you need, and both restructure their plans regularly. Compare on the specific tier that contains the features you actually require rather than on the entry price, which is rarely the one you end up on.
Which is better for a contact centre?
Both sell contact-centre products. RingCentral has the longer enterprise track record; Dialpad brings more built-in AI. At that scale the decision is usually made on integration and support rather than features.
Do I need a suite at all?
If the company needs phones, yes. If the requirement is that a sales team makes outbound calls and logs them, a suite is a large amount of product bought for a small part of it.
