Connect rate
Connect rate is the percentage of outbound dials that reach the intended contact — not merely a human, but the specific person the call was placed for. A gatekeeper answering, or a colleague picking up a shared line, counts as an answer but not as a connect.
The distinction from answer rate matters most in B2B calling, where reaching the switchboard and reaching the decision maker are different outcomes with different values.
Definitions vary between teams and between vendors, which makes cross-tool comparison unreliable. Some products use "connect rate" for what this page calls answer rate. The practical answer is to define it once for your own team and hold to that definition rather than trusting a benchmark.
