Local presence dialing

Local presence dialing is the practice of presenting an outbound caller ID that shares an area code with the person being called, on the basis that a local number is answered more often than an unfamiliar out-of-area one. It requires holding phone numbers in each region a team calls into.

The tactic works because of how people screen calls, and its effectiveness has fallen as carriers have deployed spam labelling and as consumers have become more suspicious of unrecognised local numbers.

It also carries regulatory risk. Rotating through numbers to disguise the origin of a call can cross into caller ID spoofing, which is restricted in the US under the Truth in Caller ID Act and similar rules elsewhere. Presenting a number the business genuinely owns and answers is the line most compliance teams draw.

CallPal does not do automatic local-presence rotation. It presents a DID you own, chosen per campaign.
